When discussing a question asked about Alphonse, Jo mentioned that when he first saw Alphonse, he thought he looked like a “cozy stove.” The comment was so freaking adorable I drew Alphonse as a literal stove/oven. Of course me being me I had to draw some of the stuff that popped in my head while watching the stream (despite my terrible internet connection…!) The anniversary stream was awesome! I’m so excited for what D-Pad has cooking up. I even dressed adult Otus in his avatar outfit here. In case you’re wondering, I am in fact studying Simon’s art it’s so freaking cool and awesome and It’s the kind of stuff I want to have the confidence to make someday.
OWLBOY BIG COINS FULL
Oh yeah, the art is pretty ugly now, but here’s the full AU idea of you’re interested: (spoiler warning!) At least it’s better than painting something boring, lol 🦉

Yeah it’s way too overdramatic, but I find it interesting. When the waves are tranquil, It seems to whisper to him… His only solace is an unusually blue seashell from his hazy childhood. Despite the beautiful beach around him, he feels stranded. When it comes to the story behind this artwork, I’d say it has to do with our amnesiac young adult Otus yearning to touch the sky again, exhausted from living in a world where he’s completely out of his element. Despite the randomness of the subject matter, this turned out okay. I have never painted the sea like this before, so this was fun. Remember that odd Owlboy AU I made a couple months back? (yes I’m aware making AUs is embarrassingly nerdy but I couldn’t help myself) well, after making a rough sketch of it, I said why not let’s turn it into a digital painting exercise focusing on clouds and the sea.
